Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom recently completed filming, and has now moved official into Post-production. As the filming wrapped up, more and more crucial plot details regarding the sequel are coming to light. Frank Marshall, the executive producer for the sequel tweeted the following upon completion of filming:
The volcano had previously been heavily rumored to be involved in the storyline of the sequel, but this is the first official confirmation of it's involvement. Now this is certainly an exciting development, as there are many story possibilities.
The first being that this film may center around an impending volcanic eruption. With the park closed due to the events of the previous film, a volcanic eruption would pose an immediate danger to all dinosaur life on Isla Nublar. This theory is given some credence due to some discovered website domains regarding an 'Isla Nublar Rescue Mission'.
Therefore it appears that the plot will revolve around a rescue mission organized with one goal, to save the dinosaurs before the second extinction of the dinosaurs. No doubt such a mission would have one drop off point for these animals, Isla Sorna which is the only other place in the world which could accommodate them. They may be on a clock though, since the presence of a volcanic threat may mean that we do get to see the destruction of Nublar by the end of the film.
This would of course indicate the destruction of the old park and the new, which promises a very dramatic and heartbreaking exit to Isla Nublar. However, the story possibilities this leaves for the movies going forward are certainly intriguing.
How about this readers, what do you feel about the volcano in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom?
